"Le Petit Tonneau" in Azabu-Juban

Last week, we found a French restaurant inAzabu-Juban called "Le Petit Tonneau". Service is friendly, and staff are ready to help you choose from among the twenty wines by the glass, mostly from Roussillon, Langedouc and other southwestern French regions. The bar menu offers wine-compatible nibbles like a tasty rillette sandwich, or you can explore the more serious restaurant menu. There you'll find dishes like bouillabaisse, crispy confit of rabbit leg spring roll with porcini, and several of chef Batton's signature dishes such as fresh foie gras sauteed with turnips. Everything on the main menu comes in your choice of full- or tapas-size portions.

A Noodle bar in Shinjuku

Noodle are very popular in Japan. There are several types of Noodle (curry, bacon, seafood...). Usually, you buy it in supermarkets such as AmPm or 7 eleven. It is sufficient to heat water, then you wait three minutes and you can eat it. It's very useful if you don't have enough time for lunch. But when we went to Shinjuku, we found a restaurant called "Noodle Bar". Noodle are better here than in supermarkets and it's very cheap. That was a good experience!

A typical japanese restaurant in Shibuya

On Saturday, we went to Shibuya. We would do a karaoke but before we went to a restaurant. This restaurant is located at the fifth floor of a building and you can only eat omelette. I chose an omelette with seafood. The waiter brings you the omelette and you have to cook it on a hot grid. There were other types of omeletes: with beef, vegetables....
It was very delicious and cheap and I think we will return to this restaurant!!!

A sushi restaurant in Mita

Two days ago we went to a sushi restaurant in Mita. We sat on tatami, which is very typical of Japanese restaurants. We ordered sushi and maki but we waited a long time to eat (around thirty minutes)!!! We had long and big dishes and the taste of food was very great, so delicious!

However, the price was very high but we found it correct because sushi were the most famous and excellent we ate in Tokyo!!!

A Korean restaurant in Mita

On Saturday evening, we decided to try a new style of restaurant, especially a Korean restaurant in Mita. We ordered pieces of beef and chicken that we had to cook ourselves on a hot stone. In France, this type of cooking is called "Une pierrade". However in France, in a Korean restaurant, there is a cooker who cooks in front of you, you have anyting to do, just eating!!! The meat was excellent and the price was very correct (around 2500 yen per person). That's why I recommand you this restaurant...

KFC in Tokyo

In Tokyo, we find the same fast food as in Paris. We have Mc Donald's and the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). The meals are almost the same as we have in France, but what eye catches me is the fact that you can connect your computer on Internet everywhere in all the fast food. The quality of sandwiches and hamburgers is very high, it's always hot and the price is lower than in France. The waiters are very polite but I begin to be fed up of fast food...
Moreover, I have seen a Corean restaurant near the school and I think my next article will be on this one.

A Steak House in Mita

Thursday night, we went to a Steak House near the University (Mita Hall). After one month, we would to eat a real steak!!!
We ordered a "Special Hamburger" and unfortunately it was a special hamburger... There was no taste, no sauce, and no fries... The price was high so I don't recommand you to go to this restaurant.
The day after, we were all sick and everytime we'll pass in front of this restaurant, I think we will feel bad...

Mc Donald's

Last week, we went to Omote-sando, a road which seems to be "Les Champs-Elysées" in Paris. We went to the McDonald's which has tables and chairs arranged in the Parisian fashion — two chairs to a table, all facing the street. Mc Donald's in Japan are very different than in France. Hamburgers and potatoes are always hot here. Moreover, your hamburger is made once you have commanded and waiters are very polite, even if something is missing they bring it to you in 2 minutes.
Hamburgers are different in Japan. For example, there is an hamburger with shrimps. I found it very strange and I don't think I'll try it again!!

Fish market

Two days ago, we went to the fish market in Ginza. It was five o'clock in the morning and we were so exhausted. The market fish is a very special place. There is lot of people who work in the transportation of fish from the fresh room to the fish stands. It was a very crowded place and there was a visit, especially for tourists. Then, we went to a sushi restaurant (at eight o'clock) and we ate fresh fish. It was delicious!!! And we don't regret we have woke up early!!!

A sushi bar in Shibuya

Two days ago, I went to Shibuya and ate for the first time in a sushi bar. The concept is very original. There are no tables, no menus and no waiters. The cooker makes his sushis in front of you (it keeps the freshness of fish!!), puts them in different colored plates and poses them on a travelling carpet. So you can choose everything you want and you pay at the end with your empty plates according to the color of the plate.
Moreover you can eat cheaper than in others restaurants and very quickly (25 minutes).
In France, this concept isn't really present. People who want to eat quickly are going to Mc Donald's or are just taking a sandwich to the baker's.

A street in Shinjuku

On Sunday, I went to Shibuya with my friends to do shopping, especially at « Big Camera Store”, a famous electronic shop. Then, we went to Shinjuku where we saw a demonstration, a religious demonstration I think and we went to a very typical street.
In fact, it is a place where we can eat easily sushi, meat and fish skewers. The odor was nauseous but skewers are very nice whereas in Paris if you eat in the same place, you’re sick during two days…

First impression

Arrived last week in Tokyo, I didn't realized in which country I decided to live for two months!

The first thing I would like to do was to eat sushi in a Japanese restaurant. So we went to a restaurant with my friends and my first impression was the fact that the taste isn't the same as in Paris. It's more appreciable and I think the fish is more fresh here.
Moreover, the waiters are very polite and I didn't want to leave the restaurant whereas in Paris where you want to leave quickly...
Now I'm going to look for each specality of Japanese restaurants and why not others types of cooking.
